Sundance® Spas 880 Series Error Code Troubleshooting Guide
If you own a Sundance® 880 Series hot tub—including the Aspen™, Maxxus™, Optima®, Cameo®, Majesta®, Altamar™, or Capri®—your spa is equipped with an advanced diagnostic system. Understanding these codes is the fastest way to get back to relaxing.
If you have a Hamilton, Chelsee, Peyton, or Edison model, please see our Sundance 780 & 680 Series Troubleshooting Guide.
Understanding the Cabinet Indicator Light
The 880 Series features a unique external indicator light on the front cabinet panel. This is your first clue to the spa's health:
- Solid White Light: Normal operation. All systems are functioning correctly.
- Solid Red Light: Critical error detected. The spa requires immediate attention to prevent equipment damage.
Critical Sundance 880 Error Codes (Red Light)
These codes typically deactivate the heater or pumps for safety. Do not enter the water if an overheat condition is indicated.
| Error Code | What It Means | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| OH | Overheat Protection: Water temp is above safe limits. | DO NOT ENTER WATER. Remove the cover to speed up cooling. If it doesn't reset, contact a technician. |
| FLO | Flow Switch Error: Water flow is restricted or the switch is stuck. | Check water level. Rinse or replace clogged filters. This often happens after a fresh fill due to an air lock. |
| Watchdog | Emergency Shutdown: A major safety issue was detected. | |
| PF | Power Failure: Low voltage or power fluctuation. | Reset the GFCI breaker. If the error returns, you may have an electrical supply issue. |
| Hole | Circuit Board Overheat: The control box is too hot. | Often caused by direct sunlight on the equipment panel. Provide shade for the spa cabinet to lower the internal temp. |
Sensor & Hardware Errors (Sn1, Sn2, FL)
Hardware failures usually display a specific sensor code and often require a professional part replacement.
| Code | Description | Repair Required |
|---|---|---|
| Sn1 | Open/Shorted High-Limit Sensor | Heater is disabled. A replacement High-Limit sensor is usually required. |
| Sn2 | Open/Shorted Main Temp Sensor | Heater is disabled. Main temperature sensor requires professional replacement. |
| FL1 / FL2 | Flow Switch Failure | Flow switch is malfunctioning at startup. Check for obstructions or replace the switch. |
