Comprehensive User Guide to Programming Your Eco Spas Topside Control Panel

Eco Spa Topside Control Panel User Guide

The Eco Spas topside control panel typically features Pump, Light, Cool, and Warm buttons. It allows you to manage all spa functions, including temperature, filtration cycles, and operational modes. Understanding its programming is key to optimizing your spa's performance and energy efficiency.

Standard Operation Overview

Pump Control
Press once for Low speed, again for High speed, and a third time to turn off. The pump automatically shuts off after 20 minutes of manual operation but may run automatically for maintenance cycles.

Light Control
Press to cycle through colors; press again to turn off. Lights automatically turn off after 2 hours.

Temperature Adjustment
Use the Cool and Warm buttons to set the temperature (range: 80 degrees F to 104 degrees F). Press the Cool button once to make the temperature flash, then adjust. Settings save automatically after 3 seconds of inactivity.

Programming and Advanced Settings

1. Setting Filtration Cycle Duration

The filtration cycle runs twice daily every 12 hours. To change the duration:

Press the Cool button (the temperature will flash).
Press the Pump button.
Press the Cool button repeatedly to cycle through the duration options: 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours.
Press the Jets (or Pump) button to confirm your selection.

Note
Filtration start times are based on when the spa is powered on. For example, if you power on at 2:54 PM and choose a 2-hour cycle, filtration will run from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM.

2. Selecting Operational Modes

To switch between operational modes:

Press the Cool button (the temperature will flash).
Press the Light button. The current mode abbreviation will flash on the display.
Press the Cool button followed by the Light button to cycle through the available modes.

Standard Mode ("St")
Maintains the preset temperature constantly. Ideal for frequent use.

Economy Mode ("EC")
Heats water only during filtration cycles to save energy. Not recommended for ambient temperatures at or below 40 degrees F.

Sleep Mode ("SL")
Heats only during filtration cycles and up to 20 degrees F below the preset temperature. Maximizes energy savings. Avoid using in ambient temperatures at or below 40 degrees F.

3. Understanding Mode Indicators

In Economy or Sleep mode, the display will flash between the mode abbreviation and the current temperature to indicate the mode is active. This is normal operation.

If the heater activates outside of filtration cycles in these modes, check for programming errors or contact support.

Freeze Protection Feature

Auto-Engagement
If the water temperature drops to 44 degrees F, the spa turns on automatically and runs until it reaches 46 degrees F, plus an additional 4 minutes.

Cold Weather Note
In Sleep or Economy mode at temperatures at or below 40 degrees F, the spa may run its freeze protection system continuously.

Troubleshooting and Tips

Priming Issues
If the pump fails to prime after 2 attempts, check slice valves, diverter valves, jet positions, and filter cleanliness. If problems persist, call for support.

Button Response
Wait 5 seconds between button presses to avoid unintended changes.

Display Visibility
The screen may be hard to read in direct sunlight; shading the panel can improve visibility.

Circ Pump Systems
Some spas with 24/7 circulation pumps may not require programmed filter cycles. Refer to your manual or adjust dip switches if needed.

Energy-Saving Recommendations

Use Economy Mode when the spa is not in use for extended periods.

In warm weather, Sleep Mode reduces energy consumption significantly.

Lower the temperature setting when the spa is unused to save energy.
