How To Remove a Coast Spas Filter

Regularly cleaning your filter is essential for maintaining clean water and optimal spa performance. Follow these simple steps to safely remove your Coast Spas filter.

What You'll Need
A block of wood (if the nut is tight)

Step-by-Step Removal Guide
Step 1: Release the System Pressure
Locate the pressure release valve on the top of the filter housing. Loosen it by turning it counterclockwise and take it all the way out.

Pro Tip: Be mindful of the small o-ring on the valve. Do not lose it, as it is essential for a watertight seal.

Step 2: Loosen the Filter Housing Nut
Find the large nut at the top of the filter canister. Try to loosen it by turning it counterclockwise by hand.

Step 3 (If Needed): Loosen a Stuck Nut
If the nut is too tight to turn by hand:

Take a small block of wood and place it against one of the nut's "wings."

Gently tap the end of the wood block with a hammer in a counterclockwise direction.

Continue with light "tap-tap-tap" motions until the nut turns about a quarter of a turn. This should break it loose without damaging the components.

Step 4: Remove the Nut and Filter

Once loose, unscrew the nut completely by hand.

Set the nut safely aside.

Firmly grab the top of the filter cartridge and pull straight up to remove it from the housing.

You are now ready to clean or replace your filter cartridge. When reinstalling, remember to hand-tighten the nut securely—do not overtighten.
